About Us

Welcome to South Tipperary Beekeepers Association

STBA is probably one of the most proactive and welcoming associations in the country. We are very fortunate to have some very experienced beekeepers that are willing to disseminate the vast knowledge they have gained over many years of working with bees. Several members are known within the country and internationally for their expertise. Lectures are held for our members throughout the winter months and the study of bees and beekeeping is accommodated at every level. We actively work with schools and community groups raising awareness of the importance of our bees and of the wonderful craft of beekeeping.

Each year, during April we hold a beginners course. Covering the basics of beekeeping, from setting up your apiary to jarring your own honey.

The theory side of the course is followed by weekly demonstrations in our association apiary during the active season, and is where the real learning takes place. If you think beekeeping could be for you, please get in touch.
